Description

Prolific and prodigiously talented French Romantic composer (1835–1921) of such timeless works as the “Organ” Symphony, the opera Samson et Dalila, and the perennial concert favorite Carnival of the Animals. ALS in French, signed “C. Saint-Saens,” one page, lightly-lined graph-like paper, 8.5 x 11, January 18, 1920. Translated in full: “My dear friend, When your violinist came in the mean time I was in Athena. I've arrived this morning and I found your delicious gift which gave me a deep happiness. Because it's yours and because it's so charming! Receiving some news from you is always good and I say thank you with all my heart which loves you and will love you forever." Bisecting mailing folds, a mild shade of toning, and scattered light edge wear, otherwise fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
