ALS signed “Tallulah,” eight pages on two sheets, 5.25 x 6.5, Hotel Dupont letterhead, no date. Bankhead, then 16, writes to her father from Wilmington, Delaware. In part: “I have had very little to do in the play but Mr. Shubert and Mr. Rinehart said to try it and get the experience and I would get something very much better…I love the stage to death and I am so happy that I am on it…The very first night I was very nervous before I went on, but after I got out there I was not frightened at all and now I can’t wait for the show to start in the evenings. I am just wild about it all. I go to bed every night after the show and get a good night’s rest and I never go anywhere to dance afterwards.” She later makes reference to Alla Nazimova (with whom she was later rumored to have had an affair). “Nazimova, the Russian actress opens here tomorrow in the Wild Duck. I saw her in the lobby and she is very attractive.” In fine condition, with bisecting mailing folds, staple to top left, and a bit of light toning. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
