Incredibly rare original vintage pencil sketch of Donald Duck, complete with hat, bow tie and collar on an unused beige 5 x 7.5 envelope, signed under the image in pencil, “Walt Disney.” In fine condition, with some scattered light creasing and wrinkles, and trivial spot of soiling near hat.
In the world of Disneyana, there is perhaps no greater trophy than a drawing by Walt Disney himself. Although he was an animation genius who created an empire, Disney never drew professionally after the 1920s. True, in the decades that followed his most famous creations, Walt would, on occasion, offer a quickly constructed Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck upon special request—typically for an executive or VIP...or if fate saw fit, for someone named Mickey or Donald. Sometimes years pass between the offerings of original Disney drawings, with Donald Duck sketches, such as the one offered here, at least twice as scarce as a Mickey creation. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Phil Sears. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
