Rare, circa 1910, vintage 5 x 7 photo (affixed to a 6 x 8 mount), of Houdini in a jacket and tie smiling devilishly. Signed boldly in deep blue fountain pen, “Houdini.” Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from James Spence. In fine condition, with mild silvering to lower portion of image, as well as some scattered light spotting, with none of the flaws detracting from the strong signature.
Original photographer studio prints of this photo, Houdini’s own favorite of himself which he used extensively in his programs and publicity materials after 1910, are scarce, especially an autographed example signed as nicely as the item offered here. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
