Description

Kate Greenaway

British children’s author and illustrator (1846–1901) whose distinctively illustrated books were among the most popular “juvenile” works of the Victorian age. ALS signed “K. G.,” one page both sides, 4 x 6, personal letterhead, February 19, 1898. Letter to Lady Maria [Ponsonby]. In full: “May I come Tuesday, then at 4:30 or 5 if 4:30 is too early, I could not come today. For they make such a point of my being all the afternoon at the Fine Art and I don’t know where I could get away not until 6 o’clock I expect. I wish I could have been with you this morning but to stand about all day is beyond me. It is a light day that is something. I expect you will feel much better when you get to Ireland.” Mild light toning and soiling, a couple of pencil notations, and light show-through from writing on reverse, otherwise fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
