Description

Writing the assistant conductor at La Scala

ALS in Italian, signed “G. Puccini,” three pages on two adjoining sheets, 4.5 x 6, October 11, 1904. Letter to the assistant conductor at La Scala, Hector Panizza, sending photographs to the orchestra which are to be handed out. In part [translated]: ‘Besides I would like you to take into account the aspirations made by the admired Sir. “Parodies being hold so dear to us’ which you conduct and the ‘Greek bell’ which you investigate thoroughly in some evenings when being in theatre during the intermezzo of the opera (it is really a matter of taste and carefulness). I would be very grateful if you could do this. Good-bye. I am very confident as for my music and to comply with your demands.” In fine condition, with a couple trivial spots and brushes. Puccini took part at the rehearsal for Madame Butterfly on December 1, 1904. This letter is probably about signed photographs for members of the orchestra. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
