Longtime Michigan football coach and athletic director, his career was marked with great achievements on and off the field. From 1901-1905 Yost’s teams were undefeated in 56 straight games. During those five seasons, Michigan outscored its opponents 2,821 to 42 leading these teams to be referred to as “Point-a-minute” squads. Vintage fountain pen signature, “Fielding H. Yost, ‘Hurry up,’ 3/23/36,” on a 5.5 x 2.75 blue card from the Albert R. Chestnut collection. Attached to a slightly larger heavy gray card and in very good condition, with scattered light toning to left blank area. From his Pennsylvania home, Chestnut, a printer by profession, began collecting autographs in 1935. He sent these personally-printed cards to over a thousand celebrities and received favorable replies from the vast majority, finally retiring from collecting to raise his family when postage increased from 2¢ per card!
