Tyler signs a four-language ship’s paper for the whaling ship Gold Hunter

Partly printed DS as president, signed “J. Tyler,” one page, 20.75 x 16, October 27, 1843. A four-language ship’s papers issued to Albert Wood, “master or commander of the ship called Gold Hunter…lying at present in the port of Fall River bound for South Atlantic and laden with provisions, stores and utensils for a whaling voyage.” Countersigned by H. S. Legaré as secretary of state. Cloth matted and framed with portraits of Tyler and Legaré, to an overall size of 35 x 24.5. Intersecting folds (horizontal fold through signature; short separations and pinholes elsewhere), light wrinkling, partial separation along bisecting horizontal fold, and faint offsetting from seals, otherwise fine, bright condition. Oversized. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
