Signer of the Declaration of Independence; a physician and surgeon general of the Continental Army, he established the first free dispensary in the U. S. Ink signature, “Benj’n Rush, April 16, 1800,” on an off-white 6.5 x 1.5 slip. In fine condition, with mild toning, a bit heavier at edges, light folds from previous storage, one in between first and last name of signature, and a couple light corner creases. In his 1995 reference History Comes to Life, Kenneth Rendell places Rush’s autograph material into the “rare” category among the Signers. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
