Early vintage matte-finish 5.75 x 8.25 full-length photo of Rogers in his Western gear, circa 1913-1914, signed and inscribed in fountain pen “To Mr. E. Carlton, The Tango and Banjo Kiddo, from Bill Rogers ‘All Round Musician’’” In very good condition with small surface tear to background, some scattered light creases and soiling, small tack holes to horizontal edges, and mounting remnants to reverse. Rogers made his first stage appearance in New York City in 1905 and reached real acclaim with the Ziegfeld Follies of 1916. The lasso shown in this image, taken early in his career in the Big Apple, was as much a part of Rogers’ persona as his pleasant demeanor. Taught how to use a lasso as a tool to work cattle on the family ranch, he earned a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records for throwing three lassos at once—one catching a running horse's neck, the second looping around the rider, and the third swooping beneath all four legs of the stead. An outstanding photo of one of the most-beloved public figures during the Great Depression.
