Apollo 16 moonwalker sends inspiration to a sick girl

ALS, signed “Jim Irwin, Apollo 16,” one page, 8.5 x 11, High Flight Foundation letterhead. Irwin writes to a young girl recovering from surgery and illness, who expressed hopes of becoming an astronaut. In part: “Please don’t be discouraged. There is always hope…I almost lost my life in aircraft crash in 1961. Ten years later I flew to the moon so I know the Lord works in mysterious ways.”; and a tri-fold pamphlet for Irwin’s Footprints on the Moon, signed and inscribed on the front cover, “Kathy, His love, Jim Irwin.” In fine condition.
