American naval admiral (1882–1968) who commanded the Pacific Fleet at the time of the attack on Pearl Harbor. Relieved of his command after the attack, Kimmel retired shortly thereafter and spent much effort defending his actions, arguing that crucial information that might have allowed for greater preparedness was never made available to him. Commemorative cover with a cachet honoring Iwo Jima, signed on the front in black ink, “H. E. Kimmel.” In fine condition, with some light toning to front, and two photos and caption affixed to reverse. RRAuction COA.
