A Beatle’s mother recounts an early illness: “George did have ‘hephritis’ it was after Tonsillitis, & seems poison went to his kidneys”

ALS, one self-contained air mail page, 6 x 7.25, no date, but postmarked June 29, 1964. Letter to Florence Ambungey in California, updating her on George’s medical condition. In part: “George did have ‘hephritis’ it was after Tonsillitis, & seems poison went to his kidneys. He was in hospital 6 weeks flat on his back, no salt etc. He has never had a recurrance [sic] ‘Thank God.’” Expected folds, scattered toning and soiling, several small separations along folds, and paper loss near bottom edge, otherwise very good condition.
