Description

“Dutch” sends holiday wishes from the campaign trail

Gold-bordered Christmas card from 1967, signed “Dutch,” 6.25 x 4.5, to his friend Lydia “Hup” MacArthur, bearing a pre-printed holiday sentiment from the Reagan family. In the top left corner, Reagan writes: “Dear Hup, It’s Christmas again and a brief pause in the campaign trail—Love, Dutch.” Lydia Hupfer “Hup” MacArthur was the widow of Pete MacArthur, program director of WOC in Davenport, Iowa. In 1932, MacArthur had given a then 21 year-old Reagan his first job as a sports announcer. They would remain friends until her passing at the age of 102 in 1995. In fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
