First African American Major League Baseball player of the modern era in 1947. In recognition of his accomplishments both on field and off of it, every Major League Baseball team has retired the number 42. Check, 5.75 x 2.5, filled out and signed by Robinson, “Jack R. Robinson,” payable to Clevea Schuler for $75.00, October 22, 1971. Double matted and framed with a team photo of the Brooklyn Dodgers, to an overall size of 15.5 x 16.5. Accompanied by letter of authenticity from his widow, Rachel Robinson. In fine, clean condition, with bank stamp to body, one lightly affecting tops of a few letters of signature. Pre-certified Steve Grad/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
