Highly influential avant-garde American composer and artist (1912–1992). Color 2.25 x 3.5 cardstock photo of a laughing Cage with an unidentified woman, signed and inscribed in black felt tip, “for Karl Geyer with best wishes, John Cage, 10/3/82.” Above the image Cage has also added and labeled a quotation from his “Variations II”, consisting of several dots and intersecting lines. Cage’s distinctive musical quotations have become increasingly scarce and much sought after. In fine condition, with some very subtle smudges; the photo is also affixed to a larger card.
