Description

Nicklaus and Palmer join other combatants in the 1968 British Open

Original vintage program from the 1968 British Open golf tournament, 6 x 9.5, 64 pages, signed on the last page and both sides of the back cover by 19 participants including: Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Tommy Horton, and Bill Lange. In very good condition, with some light soiling to inside signed page, several small edge tears to front cover, and moderate overall handling wear.

The 1968 Open was the fourth played over the links at Carnoustie, considered the longest and toughest course used in the Open circuit. The final round essentially came down to a battle between Nicklaus and eventual winner Gary Player. In the end, Nicklaus needed to hole out from the bunker to have any chance to tie but the shot was not on and Player was able to hang to win his second Open title. A memento from one of golf’s most epic battles! Pre-certified Steve Grad/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
