Description

Joseph Joachim

German violinist and composer (1831–1907) ranked second only to Paganini among nineteenth-century virtuosi. He was a close associate of Johannes Brahms, who wrote a number of works (including the Violin Concerto) specifically with Joachim’s talents in mind. Ink signature, “Joseph Joachim” and dated March 6, on an off-white 5.5 x 3 slip, clipped from an ALS, with several other words in Joachim’s hand on both sides. Several vertical creases, one through a single letter of signature, and a rough top edge, otherwise fine condition. RRAuction COA.
