British author (1882–1956) who, despite a large body of novels, plays, and other “adult” writings, will forever be most closely associated with his much-beloved series of Winnie the Pooh stories. Ink signature, “A. A. Milne,” on an off-white 5.5 x 7.5 sheet of his personal embossed stationery. Printed at the bottom of the stationary is “I am a bear of Very Little Brain, and long words bother me. Winnie-the-Pooh 1926.” The quotation, perhaps offering insight into the author’s true feelings about writing, appear in Chapter 4 of Milne’s 1926 classic Winnie-the-Pooh novel.
