Fabulous matte-finish 10 x 8 photo of Wayne in his Academy Award-winning role as Rooster Cogburn in True Grit, signed and inscribed in black felt tip “Lucille—Hope we do a dozen more, Duke.” Accompanied by a letter of provenance from the photo’s recipient, Lucille House McCoy stating, in part: “I have been in the motion picture business since the late 1930s…It is with pleasure that I share some of my experiences with others to enjoy the photo’s I have gotten over these wonderful, exciting and interesting years.” Quick research finds a Lucille House that worked as a stunt woman in several westerns. In fine condition, with some light rippling to top and vertical edges, and a small spot to lower right border.
