Scottish bacteriologist (1881–1955) who shared the 1945 Nobel Prize in Medicine for his role in the discovery and isolation of penicillin. Outstanding and uncommon vintage matte-finish 6 x 8.25 photo mounted to a heavy 8.5 x 11 card, a full-length image of Fleming seated in his laboratory as he holds a cigarette, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, “To my friend Professor Robert Debré with kindest regards, Alexander Fleming, Nov. 16 1953.” Pin holes to corners of mount, a subtle hint of scattered soiling, and uniform overall toning from prior display, otherwise fine, visually appealing condition.
