Description

Otto Hahn

German chemist (1879–1968) who won the 1944 Nobel Prize for the discovery of nuclear fission. ALS in German, signed “Dein Otto,” one page, 3.5 x 5.5, January 22, 1915. Letter to his wife Edith. In part: “I am sending them directly to Berlin that you can see in Berlin-Dahlem at your clothes how they look like. It is not a old fashioned neckwear. They are used here a lot. I hope you like them. Did you receive the other letter and did you think about it.” Hahn also addresses the envelope panel on the reverse, bearing a second signature, “Leutnant Hahn.” In fine condition, with a mild shade of toning, and a light bisecting horizontal fold.
