German author (1898–1970) best known for his classic World War I novel All Quiet on the Western Front. TLS in German, one page, 8.5 x 11.75, personal letterhead, August 30, 1955. Letter to Kurt Hirschfeld at the Zurich theater. In part (translated): “The theater piece that I have written is as ready as a theater piece can be without rehearsal. Should you be interested you can call me to Porto Ronco. It is much better to talk than to write long letters.” In fine condition, with a bisecting folds, two punch holes to left edge, and a few creases to top right. RRAuction COA.
