Description

Parrish forwards author-architect Frank Choteau Brown samples of lettering

Beautifully-penned ALS, one page, 8 x 10, June 18, 1901. Letter to Frank Chouteau Brown. In part: “I am sending you under separate cover a page of lettering…I had forgotten that the page had been loaned, and it took a little time to get it back. I think it will reduce to just the proportion you wish. I had some more pages of lettering, but fear they are hopelessly lost…Please pardon its dirty condition: it has knocked about a good deal.” Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, beautifully addressed in Parrish’s hand. In fine condition, with intersecting mailing folds. Architect Frank Choteau Brown served as editor of Architectural Review for twelve years before heading the department of Art and Architecture at Boston University; his book Letters and Lettering was published in 1902 and, evidently, Parrish provided some assistance to the venture. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
