DS, three pages both sides, 8.5 x 11, September 18, 1951. Three year artist’s management contract between Garland and the William Morris Agency for the standard ten percent commission. Signed on the reverse of the last page in blue ink by Garland. Staple and punch holes to top, a mild shade of toning to pages, and a couple spots of trivial soiling, otherwise fine condition.
On August 28, Garland’s upcoming run at New York’s Palace Theater was announced. Originally scheduled for four weeks, the show was ultimately extended to a record nineteen, and rehearsals began the day before this contract was signed. On October 16 she made her first appearance on the legendary stage in an engagement that made Broadway history. Through strength and courage, Garland had reinvented herself from movie star to concert artist! Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
