Description

Boldly signed, the year after Gatsby

Jazz Age novelist and short story writer. He is regarded as one of the greatest American writers of the twentieth century. Fitzgerald was the self-styled spokesman of the “Lost Generation,” Americans born in the 1890s who came of age during World War I. He finished four novels, left a fifth unfinished, and wrote dozens of short stories that feature themes of youth, despair, and age. Scarce, bold, and clear fountain pen signature and sincription, “To my Freddie, F. Scott Fitzgerald 1926,” on an off-white 4.25 x 4.25 album page. Double matted and framed with a portrait of Fitzgerald, to an overall size of 12 x 20. In fine condition, with a few light bends, including a light diagonal one through signature, and a mild shade of toning. A nice example of a desirable literary autograph, dated a year after the release of his celebrated masterpiece, The Great Gatsby. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
