In part: “In view of the fact that you Prince of Wittgenstein, Captain of the Regiment of the Empress [Carlota], cannot continue in the armed services because it doesn’t suit you, I grant you absolute permission for separation from the Imperial Mexican Army.” Signed at the conclusion in black ink by Maximilian. Accompanied by an unsigned CDV portrait. Intersecting storage folds, and some scattered light toning and foxing, otherwise fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
