Outstanding ALS signed “Your friend, Battling Nelson,” three pages on two sheets (one page affixed to a same sized sheet), 5.75 x 9.25, Morrison Hotel, Chicago, letterhead, January 2, 1943. Letter to an autograph seeker, in part: “Benny Leonard was one of our outstanding Lightweight Champions. You should have him…Benny and I are, and always have been, good friends…As for Ace Wolgast, he is confined in the Asylum at Hollywood or Los Angeles, I am not sure which…if you want a real champion write to, or see, Jack Dempsey…tell Jack I said to autograph a picture for you. I am sure he will. Of all the Real Fellers in the world, Dempsey is tops.” In very good condition, with aforementioned affixed sheet concealing one page of the letter, rippling, creasing, and staining from moderate mounting remnants to both sheets, and scattered light creasing and handling wear.
