Bold and attractive fountain pen “umbrella” signature, “Chautauqua, September 3-92, Thomas A. Edison,” on an off-white 4.25 x 3.5 slip affixed to a same sized card. Accompanied by a two page ALS to the collector by Edison’s daughter, Madeleine, stating in part, that “you are lucky, because it is the last one that anyone will receive, from me at least…The one I’m sending you was written at Chautauqua Lake, N. Y., where the first Chautauqua Institute is, and where we spent the summer.” In very good condition, with show-through from mounting adhesive on the reverse (lightly affecting two strokes of the signature), tear to upper right corner, small vertical crease, and a few light spots. A handsome Edison signature with a fantastic provenance! Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
