Longtime Emperor of Ethiopia (1892–1975) who reigned from 1930 to 1974. Selassie was one of the most revered figures among followers of the Rastafari movement, whose members viewed him as a symbol of God incarnate. Scarce vintage matte-finish 5 x 7.25 photo of a regal young Selassie on an 8.25 x 11.25 mount, circa 1920s, signed in fountain pen on the image (one stroke extending onto mount). Double matted and framed, to an overall size of 12.25 x 14.75. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA. Silvering to dark areas of the image and three pin holes to edges, otherwise fine, visually appealing condition. A most arresting image and the earliest we have ever encountered! RRAuction COA.
