Buntline describes himself as “only a plain American who has served his country in her hour of need & is ready to go again”

American publisher, journalist writer and publicist (1813-1886) best known for his dime novels and the Colt Buntline Special he commissioned from Colt's Manufacturing Company ALS, signed “E. Z. C. Judson, ‘Ned Buntline,’” one page, lightly-lined, 5.5 x 8.5, August 10, 1884. Letter to a doctor seeking an autograph. In part: “Your letter requesting my autograph and a ‘sentiment’…id rec’d. I am not of a sentimental breed—only a plain American who has served his country in her hour of need & is ready to go again.” Scattered light toning and soiling, small pencil notation, and mounting remnants to reverse, otherwise fine condition.
