Handsome 3.25 x 5.25 postcard photo of Clemens seated in a wicker chair, signed in fountain pen at the top, “I thought it was your picture; and I am so disappointed. Mark Twain” adding “over” and continuing on the correspondence side, “The book you mention? Bless your heart this is the first time I’ve ever heard of it. SLC.”
An attractive portrait of Clemens that is made all the more outstanding by the fact that he signed as Twain and continued on the reverse, signing with this real name. In very good condition, with horizontal crease at top (passing through the sentiment), moderate contrast to much of the signature and part of the sentiment, scattered light crazing and creasing, and missing a small portion of the lower right corner.
