Magnificent Karsh Apollo 11 portrait signed by the crew and photographer, presented to longtime Boston Museum of Science Director, Brad Washburn

Extraordinary seldom seen and highly desirable matte-finish 11 x 10 Yousuf Karsh close-up profile portrait of the Apollo 11 crew, taken in 1969, signed in the lower border in black ink, “Neil Armstrong,” “Buzz Aldrin,” and “Michael Collins,” and also signed and inscribed “To Brad and Barbara Washburn, who also love high and distant places! In friendship and admiration—Yousuf Karsh 1969.” Karsh has also signed the image in the lower left corner. In very fine condition. Matted and framed to an overall size of 17.25 x 16. Bradford Washburn was a world-famous mountaineer, explorer, and aerial photography pioneer, who made many first ascents and authored the definitive maps of Mount Everest, McKinley, and the Grand Canyon. He also established the Boston Museum of Science, serving as its director from 1939-1980. His wife, Barbara, was the first woman to reach the summit of Mount McKinley.
