Description

Florence Nightingale

Italian-born British nurse (1820–1910), popularly known as the “Lady with a Lamp,” who first came to prominence for her care of troops during the Crimean War. She pioneered modern nursing and hospital practice, and her prowess as a mathematician led her to develop a number of important innovations in the field of statistics. Fountain pen signature clipped from the closing of a letter, “Fare you always well, Ever yours, Florence Nightingale,” on an off-white 5 x 1.5 slip. Affixed to a same size sheet by the vertical edges, a block of toning to the right side lightly affecting four letters of the signature, and a vertical fold lightly affecting one letter of the signature, otherwise fine condition.
