John Dickinson

Lawyer and signer of the U.S. Constitution from Delaware (1732–1808) who also served as an officer during the Revolutionary War, Governor of Delaware, and Governor of Pennsylvania. Manuscript DS, signed “Dickinson for the Plaintiff,” one page both sides, 8.5 x 13.5, May 1761. Final page of a longer legal brief regarding the last will of Andrew Jubart and a payment of three hundred pounds owed to him by Thomas Glenn and Robert Watt. Signed on the reverse by Dickinson as attorney for the plaintiffs. In very good condition, with a few small separations along intersecting storage folds, an old clipping pinned to bottom of back page, scattered toning, and a tape repair to bisecting horizontal fold.
