Description

Atlas Shrugged author humbly responds, “I am pleased that you liked my books and that you find my philosophy helpful”

Russian-born author (1905–1982) who famously espoused an “objectivist” philosophy. Her novels and philosophical works, including The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged, take a place among the most influential literature of the twentieth century. TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, The Objectivist letterhead, August 15, 1967. In full: “Thank you for your letter. I am pleased that you liked my books and that you find my philosophy helpful. I hope you will continue to develop your knowledge and your interest in ideas.” Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. From 1961 to 1976, Rand was publisher and editor (sometimes co-editor) for three different periodicals: The Objectivist Newsletter, The Objectivist, and The Ayn Rand Letter. The newsletter was co-published by Ayn Rand and Nathaniel Branden. In January 1966, The Objectivist replaced The Objectivist Newsletter, with Rand and Branden continuing as co-editors. In August 1968, Rand broke off her relationships with both Nathaniel and Barbara Branden. Rand insisted that Nathaniel Branden resign from The Objectivist and sign over his half of the company to her, which he did. From this point forward, Rand acted as the sole editor for the magazine. In fine condition, with four horizontal folds and a light vertical fold (one horizontal fold through the signature). RRAuction COA.
