Henry M. Flagler

Real estate and railroad entrepreneur and president of the Standard Oil Company (1830–1913) who set out to make Florida the “Newport of the South” by providing extensive rail access and grand hotels to lure wealthy vacationers. TLS signed “H. M. Flagler,” one page, 7.75 x 10, personal letterhead, March 4, 1908. Flagler writes to William V. Hester in Palm Beach. In full: “I thank you for your favor of the 3rd inst. enclosing article in Brooklyn Daily Eagle, entitled ‘The Oil Industry in America,’ which I shall read with interest.” In very good condition, with wrinkling and light creasing, subtle toning, and intersecting mailing folds touching signature. RRAuction COA.
