Castro signs an important statement on Elian Gonzales

Printed poem, in Spanish, two pages, 8.5 x 11, in Spanish, entitled "Claim for Elián.” Poem reads, in part: “When someone believes that he has said everything When someone believes that everything has been said That nothing, absolutely nothing is left to say, He is wrong There is still a boy alone There is still a boy in his wakefulness There is still a boy in his fright There is still a boy who wants to lose his memory A boy who wants to run away from himself A boy without answer A boy attached to a time bomb A boy on a mine field…A boy without his boyhood A boy who is a giant A boy whom without him we would stop being boys.” Attested to at the conclusion in another hand, “Miguel Barne Witness of the day in which it was created and was said for the first time, this wonderful poem, the 12th of January of 2000, 3:10 P.M.,” and signed at the conclusion, “Fidel Castro." Poem is also signed in the upper right corner of the first page "Jose C. Rodriguez.". In fine condition, with previous storage folds and staple holes to top left. RRAuction COA.
