Vintage matte-finish 9.5 x 7.5 U. S. Army Signal Corps photo of Patton standing at attention in the countryside (presumably in France) with two other one-star generals, Brigadier General Horbert R. Gay and Brigadier General Paul D. Harkins. Harkins served as Patton’s Deputy of Operations and Gay was Chief of Staff for Patton’s Third Army. Both Gay and Harkins joined Patton’s staff just in time for the famous rush to save Bastogne and the end of the Battle of the Bulge. Signed in fountain pen, “G. S. Patton, Jr.,” and also signed by Gay and Harkins. Archivally double matted and framed to an overall size of 17 x 14.5. On December 9, 1945, Patton and Gay were seated in the back seat of the staff car, en route to a hunting lodge. There was a traffic accident, during which Patton sustained spinal injuries which later cost his life. In fine condition, with a few scattered light surface marks, and light haloing to Gay’s signature. RRAuction COA.
