Description

After singlehandedly saving Allied Artists from bankruptcy, Presley pays tribute to his Tickle Me director

Partially printed souvenir production sheet for the 1965 film Tickle Me, directed by Academy Award winner Norman Taurog, 9 x 12.25, signed in black ballpoint, “Elvis Presley.” The sheet has been filled out in another hand and has also been signed on the reverse by Joe Esposito, a member of Presley’s “Memphis Mafia.” Presley made this movie as part of a deal with a floundering Allied Artists Pictures Corporation, taking a pay cut and not recording any new material, in exchange for 50% of the film’s profits. This would result in Tickle Me being one of the few Presley films that did not feature an original soundtrack. Instead, the powers that be decided to pull a number of songs from other Elvis albums to create the soundtrack. One of these “recycled” songs, “(Such An) Easy Question,” became a top 20 hit in the United States. The film was a huge success and saved the studio from bankruptcy. In fine condition, with a few cross-outs, and some mild edge toning. Pre-certified Roger Epperson/REAL and RRAuction COA.
