Description

“The prettiest, most masterful upset that boxing has ever seen”

TLS, signed in ballpoint “Muhammad Ali,” one page, 8.5 x 11, pictorial stationery, no date. Evidently predicting the result of his famous “Rumble in the Jungle” with George Foreman in 1974, Muhammad Ali is, well, his old self in this printed form letter. In part, the boxing great informs: “I feel good now. I’m in good shape and razor sharp. In case you were a little apprehensive [sic] regarding my upcoming fight, let me inform you that this is going to be the prettiest, most masterful upset that boxing has ever seen. I guarantee this, and I couldn’t be more serious. Please forgive the brevity of this letter, but I have much to do and must move on.” The standout pugilist signed the letter “Muhammad Ali” in ballpoint, and the letter, which in the end accurately foretold the fight’s result—Ali scored a devastating knockout in the 8th round. A few spots of light foxing, otherwise condition is fine. Ali’s signature measures an impressive 5”, a far cry from what it has become in recent years. Pre-certified Steve Grad/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
