“A man’s success is in strict proportion to his use”

Author, suffragette, dramatist, poet, and biographer (1819–1910), best remembered as the lyricist of “Battle Hymn of the Republic.” AQS comprising three separate statements on the same off-white 3.75 x 6 sheet, signed at the conclusion “Julia Ward Howe” and dated May 1895. The text reads, in full: “A man’s success is in strict proportion to his use, and the servant of all is the true master of all”; “Industry has a deeper mine of wealth than piracy or plunder can ever open”; “No gift can make rich those who are poor in wisdom.” A touch of mild soiling and toning at edges, otherwise fine condition.
