Description

Coolidge extends a White House invitation to the Governor of New Jersey

TLS, one page, 6.75 x 8.75, White House letterhead, December 31, 1926. Coolidge writes to Mrs. A. Harry Moore, wife of then-governor A. Harry Moore. In part: “We had to leave the dinner so hurriedly that I scarcely had time to make a proper adieu to any one, so I am writing to you to tell you how pleased I was to meet you and the Governor…. If the Governor is coming to Washington at any time, I suggest that you make him bring you along and stay with us at the White House. Have him put in his letter to me that he is invited to stay at the White House, otherwise my secretaries might think it was merely a desire to call on me….” In very good condition, with light toning and a few marginal chips and tears (well away from text and signature). JSA/John Reznikoff Auction LOA and RRAuction COA.
