French writer (1824–1895), the Illegitimate son of famed novelist Alexandre Dumas. The younger Dumas’s novel La dame aux camélias became the basis of Verdi’s opera La traviata. ALS in French, signed “A, Dumas,” one page both sides, 4.5 x 3.5 [envelope postmarked 1894]. Dumas informs a friend, M. Blanch, that he is planning on staying in Paris that night but will return to Marly, and invites the friend to lunch upon his return, suggesting that he, the friend, bring fruit.
