Two items: TLS, signed “I. Sikorsky,” one page, 8.5 x 11, Sikorsky Aircraft letterhead, October 8, 1959. Sikorsky writes about his greatest achievements. In part: “I have signed the magazine photos and am returning them.... It is difficult to select a single event as there are a few which I consider high points of my life’s activities. One event was my very first airplane solo, on June 3, 1910, which was also the first time I had ever been in the air. Another was the first flight of my big, four-engined airplane, Then came the inauguration of transoceanic flights with one of our Clippers, and further, my first pioneering flight on my helicopter....” Also included is a clipped magazine photo of one of Sikorsky’s helicopters in flight, signed in ballpoint, “I Sikorsky, October 8, 1959.” Accompanied by the original mailing envelope.
