Description

Eugene O’Neill

American playwright (1888–1953) who occupies a central place in the history of twentieth-century drama. Among his most famous works are The Iceman Cometh, Mourning Becomes Electra, and Long Day’s Journey into Night. A four-time winner of the Pulitzer Prize, he was also awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1936. Penetrating vintage matte-finish 8 x 10 Nickolas Muray photo, affixed to same-sized heavy cardstock, boldly signed in ink “Sincerely, Eugene O’Neill.” Mounting as noted, a touch of mild silvering (mainly to border), and some light fading along edges from prior display, otherwise fine condition. O’Neill is particularly uncommon in signed images, especially of this size and quality. JSA/John Reznikoff Auction LOA and RRAuction COA.
