An impressive, embossed replica of the lunar plaque placed on the Moon by the crew of Apollo 11 during their historic voyage of 1969. Affixed to a light gray, 11 x 8.5 sheet, the commemorative display bears the historic text, “Here men from the planet Earth first set foot upon the moon July 1969, A.D. We came in peace for all mankind.” The incredible remembrance is autographed by the famed space-traveling trio of Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins, each of whom signed the piece below an embossed example of his facsimile script. The bottom of the sheet bears a first day of issue stamp, a ten-cent U.S. postage stamp honoring the lunar landing, and two postmarks: one celebrating the July 20, 1969 event, and the other bearing the date September 9, 1969, from Washington, D.C. The stellar dedicatory remains thoughtfully well-preserved, and is a unique representation of the world’s first interplanetary message. JSA/Scott Cornish Auction LOA and RRAuction COA.
