Popular author and illustrator (born 1928) of such children’s classics as Where the Wild Things Are and In the Night Kitchen. Hand-drawn storyboard comprising six approximately 3 x 2.25 detailed vignettes in pencil on an off-white 11 x 8.5 sheet of imitation vellum, signed at lower right “Maurice Sendak.” Sendak created the storyboard for a 1998 television spot for Bell Atlantic, titled “Internet,” intended to depict the company as a “gentle giant” in mass communications. The successful campaign won a Silver Effie award for advertising; Sendak won a Clio award for his contribution. The first panel depicts two of Sendak’s “Wild Things” characters, the first time they had ever been used in a commercial enterprise of this sort. Faint linear impression below signature, otherwise fine condition. Original artwork from Sendak is quite uncommon. RRAuction COA.
