Wooden spoon, approximately 11.5″, signed on the inside of the bowl in light blue felt tip “John Lennon 1969” and in black felt tip “Yoko Ono ’69.” The item was originally signed at a screening of the Lennons’ “home movies” at the New Cinema Club at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, London, September 10, 1969; the spoon was evidently used as a participatory noisemaker. On the following day, Lennon informed the Beatles’ new manager, Allan Klein, that he was quitting the band. Previously sold at Christie’s and Julien’s. In very good condition, with Lennon’s signature quite light and partly illegible, mild wear from use, and auction house adhesive label to center of bowl. A most unusual Lennon relic!
