Liliuokalani sends a letter of thanks for sympathies after the passing of her niece, Princess Victoria Kaiulani, her designated heir to the throne. In part: “In opening your kind note, your name brought back to my memory one so dear to me who often spoke of yours with love and affection…. I with to thank you for your kind words of love and sympathy. May I not hope that we may meet very soon and that you will call on me very soon….” Accompanied by the original mailing envelope addressed in Liliuokalani’s hand.
